Meet at Speedway/McDonalds, US 54 & McCombs
Meet at 0730, Safety Brief at 0745, KSU at 0800 (Lead: Bob)
Route: US 54 north, Stop Maverick TC in Alamogordo, take bypass to Hwy 82 to Cloudcroft and Mayhill, take a break in Mayhill, ride a loop to Dunkin, Pinion, Weed and back to Mayhill for lunch.
Return: Hwy 82, past Cloudcroft, US 54, stop Maverick Travel Center rest and fuel, US 54 to El Paso, end of ride is passing Edge of Texas
All non-HOG members and minors must sign a release. Ride at your own risk.
Pack a jacket, chaps and pack a lunch as we head up to the Sacramento Mountains. This is the ride to call in sick at work. Meeting at the Speedway at US54/McCombs Stopping in Alamogordo at the New Mavrick Truck stop for fuel. Then it is on to Cloudcroft, Mayhill (for a short stop) and on to Dunken, Weed and loop back to Mayhill. Where we will stop for a brown bag lunch at the Mayhill store. Come ride with us and see the beautiful scenery. Then it’s back down the hill to Alamogordo for gas at the Maverick Travel Station (last Stop), and back to El Paso. The end of the ride is when we’re passing the Edge of Texas. Should be a full day of riding
Mayhill, NM is a unique experience. This small town has a population of only 500 people and is known for being an incredibly peaceful place to live. The people of Mayhill are friendly and welcoming, and the scenery is stunningly beautiful with rolling hills and tall trees. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy such as hiking, fishing, camping, and horseback riding. For those interested in culture or nightlife, there are a few local eateries and bars that attract locals and tourists alike.
