Tombstone’s history primarily refers to the historic mining town in Arizona, founded in 1879 after prospector Ed Schieffelin discovered silver there. It grew rapidly due to a silver rush in 1881, becoming a prosperous boomtown known for its lawlessness and iconic events like the O.K. Corral gunfight. The town’s fortunes declined as the mines flooded, but it is now a popular tourist destination, preserving its Wild West atmosphere and designated as a National Historic Landmark.
